Real time assumes the default day length of 60 minutes.
After you light the firepit on top of the pit, you have 30 seconds to seal it completely with non-combustible blocks such as dirt or stone. Otherwise the process fails. Every firewood stack must be full, 32 pieces each: a partial stack produces nothing.
