African Monitor Lizards

African Monitor Lizards

African Monitor Lizards is a Vintage Story mod by Hieronymus. Adds five African monitor lizard species with distinct habitats, juvenile capture, defensive behavior, skins, and bushmeat.

Why this mod is worth installing

A good choice for players who want more regional wildlife, collectible juveniles, and monitor lizards that behave like wary predators.

What African Monitor Lizards adds

African Monitor Lizards introduces five Varanus species: Nile, West African, African rock, savanna, and desert monitors. Each appears in environments suited to its regional habitat, making encounters more varied as you travel.

Most individuals spawn fully grown, but juveniles can occasionally be found. A young monitor can be caught and moved with a compatible bug net before it reaches adulthood, giving players a way to keep or relocate these animals.

Adult monitors pursue selected prey and can attack creatures around them. They do not deliberately hunt players, but approaching too closely may provoke an attack, even when the lizard was raised in captivity.

Every species provides a skin when harvested; skins work as decorative materials and as a component for taxidermy. Adult animals also provide bushmeat, while the required Bug Net Compatibility dependency supports juvenile capture.
