What BetterDrifters- Increased Danger and Loot. adds
BetterDrifters changes the balance of encounters rather than simply adding more enemies. Spawn limits are reduced, while health, movement speed, detection range, hitbox size, and damage rise with drifter tier. Stronger variants are less likely to flee, may evade after being struck, and attack with more varied timing.
Stone throwing is also reworked. Drifters are less likely to interrupt their attacks just to throw rocks, and the cooldown is much longer, so projectiles are used mainly when the creature cannot reach its target. Surface and deep variants leave a little more time to dodge a swing, while every attack has a slightly longer damage delay.
The visual and audio changes make high-tier encounters easier to recognize and more intimidating. Drifters are enlarged by type, the nightmare variant receives a many-eyed model, and corrupt, nightmare, and double-headed forms drag their blades while moving. New sounds and added reverb for the upper tiers reinforce their otherworldly presence.
Loot is adjusted to offset the increased danger. Flax fiber appears frequently, flax twine is added, surface drifters can rarely yield rusty gears, and knife harvesting takes half as long. Corrupt, nightmare, and double-headed drifters can also drop a powerful but low-durability weapon.
