Bloody Story

Bloody Story

Bloody Story is a Vintage Story mod by ProfCupcake. Bloody Story replaces instant combat damage with bleeding, adding visible blood loss, emergency treatment and new ways to recover health.

Why this mod is worth installing

This mod suits players who want combat to feel more dangerous and tactical, with time to react after a hit instead of losing health instantly.

What Bloody Story adds

Bloody Story converts damage from combat into an equivalent amount of bleeding. Health then drains according to the current bleeding level, while repeated hits can briefly stack the effect to extreme values. Blood particles around the torso provide a visual warning, and the bleed-check key shows an estimate of the remaining danger; checking another player reveals their condition instead.

Bleeding can be slowed while sneaking, although this only buys time and does not remove the wound. It gradually improves on its own and can be treated with poultices, bandages, or the new reed-based improvised patch, giving characters an early-game healing option. Fire damage can also remove bleeding in an unusual emergency solution.

The mod changes recovery as well. Sitting for a while grants a small regeneration bonus when not bleeding, while sleeping provides a stronger bonus and accounts for skipped time. Eating creates a temporary regeneration boost based on food saturation, but taking damage clears it. Hunger affects regeneration speed, and additional maximum health from nutrition provides a modest benefit.
