Bonfires is a Vintage Story mod by Zarkonnen. Bonfires adds large decorative fires that burn for most of a day, spread flames upward, and crack adjacent rock when extinguished.

Why this mod is worth installing
Useful for players who want a striking village centerpiece or an early, slow method of breaking ore-bearing rock without advanced tools. It is also a decorative fire rather than a cooking station.
What Bonfires adds
Bonfires create a broad flame and a tall column of smoke, making them suitable for village squares, halls, festivals, and imposing fortresses. A lit bonfire lasts for most of a day, but it cannot cook food or serve as a normal firepit.
The flames are dangerous: like a pit kiln, a bonfire can ignite nearby flammable blocks and items, including objects several blocks above it. After the fire dies, rock blocks directly beside the bonfire become cracked and can be broken more easily, yielding the normal stone and ore pieces.
This also offers a costly, deliberately slow route to early ore extraction. By placing the fire against an exposed ore face, players can imitate an old fire-setting technique before obtaining the tools normally used for that material.
