Botanical Leathers introduces several plant-based routes to leather, so the available method depends on the resources and climate around your settlement. Mushrooms provide a relatively quick option: soak them, press out moisture, and process the remaining fibers into a hide.
Fruit production also becomes more useful. Apple and mango pulp left after juicing can be heated into botanical paste, then stabilized with wax or resin. Because the paste firms as it cools, this route rewards careful timing rather than instant crafting.
In drier or warmer regions, pineapple leaves and cactus fibers can be turned into durable hides. Oak bark offers a more involved route: soak and dry it, bundle it, steam it over a fire, then join sheets with resin and reinforce large composite pieces with linen.
