Butchering Compat Patch is a Vintage Story mod by propaneko. Butchering Compat Patch connects several FotSA animal mods with Vintage Story’s butchering system and prevents rotten-meat crashes.
Why this mod is worth installing
This patch is useful if your world includes FotSA animals, Something in the Water, or related expansion content and you want those creatures to remain safely butcherable.
What Butchering Compat Patch adds
Butchering Compat Patch is a compatibility and bug-fix add-on rather than a content pack with new creatures. It supplies missing butchering support for a broad group of FotSA animal modules, including bovines, deer, turtles, elephants, cats, marine mammals, penguins, thylacines, viverrids, and wombats.
The patch also corrects the Aptornithidae integration in the Dinornithidae mod, where an incorrectly applied patch left the animals unavailable for butchering. Additional compatibility covers sunfish, sharks, and megalodons from Something in the Water, along with Medieval Expansion Patch content.
When supported meat reaches the fully rotten state, the patch changes it to rotten chicken. This workaround avoids a crash that can otherwise occur after custom animal meat spoils, while a few missing translations improve the related in-game text.
