Burning logs in a firepit produces ash that can be mixed with water in a sealed barrel. After settling, the resulting lye can be removed with common liquid containers and used for soaking hides like water or borax.
Boiling lye in a firepit pot turns it into potash. The process follows a measured liquid recipe and dirties the pot in the same way as the base-game potash process.
Bones can be ground into bonemeal and heated to a high temperature to create boneash. It focuses on phosphorus, removes the other fertilizer values, and grants a permanent 15% soil boost; compost receives the same permanent nitrogen boost.
Seawater can be boiled into salt without dirtying the pot. This gives stone-age players a way to obtain salt for preserving hides before they have access to barrels.
