Cold Storage is a Vintage Story mod by KaiserConman. Cold Storage lets supported containers use vanilla ice to chill food, dynamically slowing spoilage according to temperature and the amount of ice inside.

This mod suits players who store food for long periods and want preservation to depend on ice supplies, cellar conditions, and the surrounding temperature rather than a fixed bonus.
What Cold Storage adds
Place glacier ice, packed glacier ice, or lake ice inside a compatible chest, vessel, trunk, or reed chest. Cooling starts automatically and reduces food spoilage while ice remains available.
The system responds to the environment: colder surroundings preserve ice longer, while larger ice reserves melt more slowly. Cellars limit the temperature to 5 °C, and temperatures at or below 0 °C stop melting altogether.
A container tooltip reports its active cooling state, remaining ice, and an estimated melting time for the current piece. Spoilage reduction and melting behavior can be adjusted through the mod’s configuration for a preferred balance.
