Deciduous Trees

Deciduous Trees

Deciduous Trees is a Vintage Story mod by Tritan20. Deciduous Trees makes tree canopies respond gradually to local temperature, creating seasonal leaf loss, regrowth, falling-leaf particles, and snow beneath bare branches.

Why this mod is worth installing

This mod suits players who want more natural seasonal scenery without changing the world into a heavier simulation. It is especially useful for builders and explorers seeking local climate variation and a more convincing autumn.

What Deciduous Trees adds

Deciduous trees gradually hide their leaves as local temperatures fall, then reveal them again when conditions improve. The timing can differ across the map: valleys may stay green longer, cold mountain slopes can change earlier, and spring cold snaps may delay foliage.

Different tree species can leaf out at different times, while evergreen trees retain their needles. During autumn, small particles drift from the canopy to suggest falling leaves without turning the feature into a large server-side simulation.

Bare canopies allow snow to settle beneath the branches and let it melt there in spring. Hidden leaves remain in the world but lose their collision and cursor highlight, so seasonal foliage does not create invisible obstacles; vines also disappear from those leaves.

The mod is primarily visual and has a small performance footprint. It works without Eco Machina, while that separate mod is needed for its more elaborate branch appearance; a configuration option also allows modded trees to be included or excluded.
