What [Legacy] Equus: Wild Horses adds

The mod introduces a fictional horse breed based on Eurasian wild horses and feral populations. Horses use genetics for inherited variation, including the added tobiano pattern, giving breeding and selection a more meaningful role.

Riding uses a progressive gait system rather than a single movement speed. You cycle upward with the sprint key, while the S key or releasing forward movement can slow the horse down through its available gaits.

Each horse has stamina that is consumed by galloping and swimming. It recovers while resting, but mounted riding and injuries slow regeneration; low stamina can force a horse to drop from a gallop to a canter or trot.

While mounted, the interface displays the current gait and a stamina bar. Horses can also be named with N and equipped with items such as saddles, bridles, blankets, lanterns, bedrolls, elk medallions, and compatible tack from related equipment mods.

Controls

The control reference shows the default movement position and the basic snaffle-bit controls: W moves forward, A and D steer, and releasing W stops the horse. Other interface mods may require offset adjustments.
