Equus: Medieval Horses

Equus: Medieval Horses

Equus: Medieval Horses is a Vintage Story mod by Shintharo12 and Freakyuser396. Equus: Medieval Horses adds purchasable Destrier warhorses, horse traders, medieval tack, armor, and hitching posts.

Why this mod is worth installing

Choose this mod if you want a dedicated medieval mount that must be acquired from traders rather than found in the wild. It suits travel, roleplay, and players who want a more complete horse-care setup.

What Equus: Medieval Horses adds

The main addition is the Destrier, a medieval warhorse with coat genetics provided through Genelib and several age stages. Destriers do not appear as wild animals, so obtaining one is tied to the new Stablemaster and horse-trader outpost.

The mod expands the mount system with Destrier-specific saddles, bridles, saddlebags, blankets, and pillion seating. Functional barding gives the horse a more martial role instead of treating armor as decoration only.

Hitching posts provide a practical way to keep Destriers near a chosen spot without repeatedly managing ropes. For horse control, the mod uses the Jaunt flute: it must first be bound to Destriers through tool mode, while a bone flute is not the intended item.
