Eternal Stew

Eternal Stew

Eternal Stew is a Vintage Story mod by Paxus and unHallowed. Eternal Stew adds a dedicated stove and pot for keeping a customizable stew simmering indefinitely, using leftovers and many types of broth.

Why this mod is worth installing

This mod suits players who dislike wasting odd ingredients and want a long-term food system with aging bonuses. It is especially useful for settlements that maintain a permanent cooking fire.

What Eternal Stew adds

Eternal Stew introduces a purpose-built stove and stewpot. Add liquid, fuel, and almost any food with satiety, then keep the mixture hot while taking servings whenever needed. The pot accepts leftovers that do not fit the stricter vanilla stew recipe, making single pieces of meat, berries, bread, cheese, and similar foods useful instead of wasteful. The stew can use more than water: milk, blood, alcohol, and other satiety-bearing liquids contribute their own value. Broth also absorbs part of the nutrition from solid ingredients, while the contents visibly change according to what has been added. Partially eaten meals can be returned by sneaking, although badly spoiled food is rejected and crocks must be served into bowls first. A lit stove prevents the stew from rotting, and reduced fuel consumption supports long-running batches. Age improves the result: mature stew can provide warmth, while older batches can temporarily slow hunger. If the fire goes out, the aging benefits are no longer maintained. A fully emptied pot can produce seed broth. Adding it while starting another pot transfers part of the original stew's aging benefit, allowing a mature batch to be shared or continued in a new location.
