This mod suits players who want beekeeping to involve colony planning, frame logistics, and real danger instead of passive harvesting. It is also useful for Vanilla+ packs that need more progression without a complete overhaul.
What Expanded Beekeeping adds
The mod separates colony growth from honey and beeswax production. Brood boxes house bee populations, but they need nearby flowers, a source colony, and an empty hive frame before they can become established. Brooded frames can then be moved to transfer bees between locations.
Apiaries sit above populated brood boxes and provide four frame slots for production. Frames may contain broodcomb, beeswax, or honeycomb, and a knife can harvest their contents. Moving a frame resets its progress, so arranging frames and choosing when to relocate them becomes part of efficient apiary management.
Working with bees is more dangerous than in the base game. Wild hives, skeps, and brood boxes can attack players who approach, break the structure, pick up a skep, or remove a frame. A lit hive smoker, fueled with dry grass and usable from the offhand, keeps the bees calm for a limited time; different smoker materials work the same way and only change appearance.
