This mod is for players who want beekeeping to involve colony management, preparation, and risk instead of passive harvesting. It is also useful for those who prefer a Vanilla+ system with configurable behavior.
What Expanded Beekeeping - Fork adds
The system separates bee population from production. Brood boxes establish and maintain colonies, while apiaries placed above populated boxes produce beeswax and honeycomb. A nearby flower supply and a source colony are needed before an empty brood box can become viable.
Hive frames carry broodcomb, beeswax, or honeycomb between brood boxes and apiaries. Frames can be harvested with a knife, but moving one resets its production progress, making colony layout and timing important.
Bees are more defensive around wild hives, skeps, and brood boxes. A lit hive smoker, fueled with dry grass and ignited with a torch or firestarter, suppresses attacks and can be used from the offhand while frames are harvested. Smoker materials are cosmetic rather than functional.
The fork updates the mod for .NET 10 and adds ConfigLib support, making most behavior variables adjustable. It also includes integration with Nadiyan beekeeper clothing.
