Fair Fish

Fair Fish

Fair Fish is a Vintage Story mod by Averixus. Fair Fish balances fish flaying, cooking, bait size, and item presentation so fish of different sizes give predictable food value.

Why this mod is worth installing

Useful for players who want fish size to matter consistently instead of guessing whether whole cooking or flaying gives the better result. It also helps identify fish size and bait suitability at a glance.

What Fair Fish adds

Fair Fish makes the food outcome consistent between cooking a whole fish and flaying it into pieces. The number of raw fillets now follows the cooked size: one for a fillet, two for a small fish, four for a medium fish, seven for a large fish, nine for a huge fish, and fifteen for fish too large to cook over a fire.

The same size logic is reflected in bait use. A fish producing one cooked fillet counts as tiny-fish bait, one producing a small cooked fish counts as small-fish bait, and larger outputs are not treated as bait. Fillets are also named more clearly to distinguish them from whole cooked fish.

The mod adjusts fish entity size, inventory icons, stack sizes, ground storage dimensions, and layouts so visual scale is easier to judge. It also fixes the handbook display so the actual flaying result is shown, while leaving meal satiety bonuses and fish bait preferences unchanged.
