Farmland Nutrient Management is a Vintage Story mod by SnakeMittens. Upgrade existing farmland in place with fertilizer and biochar, gradually raising its fertility up to Terra Preta.
Why this mod is worth installing
Useful for farmers who want to improve poor soil without destroying the plot or waiting for enough high-fertility soil to craft new farmland. It also makes surplus fertilizer and charcoal valuable during long-term field development.
What Farmland Nutrient Management adds
Farmland can be upgraded directly in place when it is not dry and has enough accumulated fertilizer. Adding biochar consumes that fertilizer, then releases its nutrients over time and permanently advances the soil to the next fertility tier. Repeating the process can turn barren farmland into Terra Preta.
Powdered charcoal works as biochar, while regular biochar can be produced by smelting dry grass or sticks in a firepit. Existing permanent boosts, such as those from potash, remain when the farmland is upgraded, but excessive phosphorus can temporarily block the process until it falls again.
