Global Player Map Markers

Global Player Map Markers is a Vintage Story mod by sSasha. Global Player Map Markers keeps distant online players visible on the Vintage Story map, even when their entities are outside normal server tracking range.

Why this mod is worth installing

This utility is useful for multiplayer servers where players need a broad view of everyone’s location without loading distant entities. It is especially helpful for groups spread across a large world.

What Global Player Map Markers adds

Vintage Story normally stops sending entity data beyond a certain distance, so player markers can vanish from the map. Global Player Map Markers works around this limitation by recording the position and rotation of every active client on the server.

The server sends the collected data to clients once per second in a compact packet. When a distant player’s entity is not loaded, the mod creates a map-only substitute using the received coordinates and orientation, preserving the familiar player marker behavior.

The one-second update interval is intentional: nearby movement remains responsive enough for navigation, while distant players are represented by their general location without creating unnecessary network traffic or server load.
