What Salty´s Immersive: Chests adds
The mod gives chests and reed baskets a cabinet-like storage system. Open a container, then place displayable item stacks directly inside it without a conventional inventory screen; a full stack occupies one physical position.
Items can be rotated, hot-rotated, and arranged with flexible spacing. Ctrl+right-click helps place or remove groups, while Ctrl+R changes an item's pose. Items may be stacked while remaining individually interactable.
Storage accepts items with the same displayable property used by vanilla containers, but tools and blocks are excluded. Use tool racks or ground storage for tools, and crates for blocks; the system is intended for visible, spatial organization.
How it works:
Open the chest and place an item directly inside it without a storage GUI. Ctrl+right-click can be used to place or remove items in bulk.

An item can be rotated before or after placement, and Ctrl+R changes its pose.
An item rotates on placement only when there is enough room. Items can be piled together while remaining independently interactable.
It works on vessels too
Arrange storage carefully to make the most of the available space. The chest accepts items with the vanilla displayable attribute, but not tools or blocks.
