Instruments

Instruments is a Vintage Story mod by Quacksol. Instruments adds playable musical instruments to Vintage Story, with pitch control, ABC tune playback, and synchronized band performances.

Why this mod is worth installing

Choose this mod if you want to make music in-game, practice melodies freely, or perform arranged ABC songs with other players. It is the base code component and requires separate instrument sound packs.

What Instruments adds

The mod introduces instruments that can be played manually by changing the player’s viewing angle. Depending on the selected mode, movement through the pitch range uses semitone steps, whole-tone steps, or smooth continuous control.

Instruments can also load ABC music files, letting you perform prepared tunes instead of entering every note by hand. A built-in ABC Player can start files directly and works with the same group performance system.

For multiplayer sessions, players can assign a shared band name and coordinate playback. Everyone performing needs the mod, while listeners can hear the music without necessarily having the ABC files installed.

This package supplies the underlying code rather than the complete instrument sound collection. Use it together with the desired instrument packs to turn the framework into playable in-game instruments.
