Knitting is a Vintage Story mod by Averixus. Knitting replaces instant cloth crafting with a hands-on process: carve needles, then turn twine into cloth by knitting.
Why this mod is worth installing
This mod suits players who want cloth production to feel more physical and paced. It is especially useful for survival runs where crafting should involve dedicated tools and time.
What Knitting adds
The usual crafting-grid recipes for cloth are disabled. Instead, you carve knitting needles with a knife, choosing from sticks, bamboo stakes, bones, or antlers; each material provides a different durability level.
To knit, place twine in your offhand and hold the needles in your main hand, then keep the interact button pressed. Four twine produce one cloth, and continuous knitting continues until your supply is exhausted.
A piece takes four seconds to knit while standing or three seconds while sitting. The needles can also be placed on the ground, shelves, and display cases, making them suitable for workshop storage and decoration.
