Local Respawn is a Vintage Story mod by DoodleGarbage. Local Respawn places you within a configurable radius of your death point, making the journey back to dropped items more predictable.
Why this mod is worth installing
Useful for players who want death to remain a setback without turning distant exploration into a long return trip. It also lets you choose how forgiving respawning should be.
What Local Respawn adds
After death, the mod selects a respawn location inside a fixed area around the death site. The radius and distance can be adjusted, so recovering your inventory takes a more consistent amount of travel regardless of how far you explored.
This changes the risk profile of long expeditions without removing death entirely. Temporal Gear behavior is different: it no longer makes ordinary respawn return to the point where the gear was used, although the Base Return Teleporter can still use that point.
The mod is especially noticeable when valuable resources are found far from home. Instead of being sent to a distant global spawn, you can tune the return journey to be mild or demanding.
