What Caplock Firearms adds
Caplock Firearms replaces the flintlock-style loading routine with percussion caps and paper cartridges. Compared with flintlocks, the weapons generally carry more ammunition, reload a little faster, and last longer; pistols are the exception, keeping the same reload time.
Loading requires a percussion pouch for priming, while the caps themselves involve a multi-stage production process. Players must smith small plates, create a suitable tool mold, and process cinnabar into mercury fulminate before the caps can be made.
Regular paper cartridges can become wet and unusable for three in-game hours, following the same kind of failure logic as matchlock ammunition. Wax-paper cartridges avoid this problem, making them a more dependable choice for damp conditions. The firearms also work with quivers and the sheath mod.
