Mapper

Mapper

Mapper is a Vintage Story mod by Genhis. Mapper turns automatic mapping into a resource-based cartography system with manual updates, map sharing, compasses, drawing kits, and a cartography table.

Why this mod is worth installing

This mod suits players who want more meaningful exploration without disabling the map completely. It is especially useful for groups that want to exchange explored territory while keeping mapping costly.

What Mapper adds

Mapper stops the world map from refreshing on its own. Players chart territory with consumable maps that begin around their position, while larger scales cover more ground at the cost of detail. A compass can show position and direction in unexplored areas, with accuracy depending on its type.

Charted regions reveal the player position without requiring a compass, but waypoints and markers need the relevant area to be mapped first. Existing maps can be repainted manually with drawing kits and brushes; tool modes determine the painted area, and lower-resolution work consumes less durability.

The cartography table stores explored chunks and lets players transfer selected information to empty maps and drawing kits. Copying discoveries into the table is free, while taking stored data back requires supplies, making shared exploration useful without removing the resource cost.
