Material Needs: Geology is a Vintage Story mod by Nephelangelo. Material Needs: Geology adds 10 realistic stone varieties to Vintage Story, bringing new colors, rock formations, and alternative mineral sources to the world.

Why this mod is worth installing
This mod suits players who want more geological variety without abandoning Vintage Story’s grounded approach to terrain and resources. It is also useful for builders seeking distinctive stone palettes and for survival players needing alternate sources of lime, olivine, or corundum.
What Material Needs: Geology adds
Material Needs: Geology expands the underground and surface stone selection with ten varieties inspired by real rock types. The additions cover igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic categories, so the landscape gains more than simple recolors.
The new rocks include komatiite, marl, monzonite, pyroxenite, serpentinite, syenite, and tufa, along with additional varieties included by the mod. Their colors and geological settings are designed to make regional terrain feel less uniform.
Resource distribution follows the identity of each rock. Marl and tufa can provide lime, several igneous and metamorphic stones can supply olivine, and multiple varieties offer crushed corundum as an alternative to crushed bauxite.
The mod also extends the building possibilities of its stone families with matching processed forms, including aged and cracked ashlar variants. This makes the added geology useful both during exploration and in detailed construction projects.
