Millwright is a Vintage Story mod by SpearAndFang. Millwright expands windmill engineering with reinforced rotors, stronger sails, vertical designs, compact axles, and heavy-duty brakes.
Why this mod is worth installing
Choose this mod if vanilla windmills cannot provide enough power or fit neatly into your factory. It is especially useful for large mechanical networks and installations passing through walls.
What Millwright adds
Millwright adds reinforced rotors that accept upgraded sails. These sails produce twice the power of vanilla versions, while compatible rotors can carry additional sail sets, allowing a carefully built windmill to reach several times the usual output.
Different rotor shapes support different maximum sail counts: designs with fewer blades can hold more sail sets. Wide sails provide another high-output option, and a sail combined with a knife lets you reclaim its linen for easier redesigns.
The mod also introduces vertical-axis windmills using dedicated rotors and sail assemblies. Improved passthrough axles transfer mechanical power through walls or ceilings with less space, while reinforced brakes help slow or stop the stronger machines.
Optional in-game settings allow the sail recovery behavior, brake strength, sail power modifiers, and rotor rotation speed to be adjusted. The configuration interface requires the separate Config Lib and ImGui dependencies.
