Markers can show a waypoint’s name and distance, while visual settings such as a background and spacing adjustments help keep the HUD readable. A keybind can hide or reveal the compass when needed.
The compass can also be restricted to moments when the player holds a chosen item. This behavior can be controlled by the server, so multiplayer servers may enforce the same display rule for everyone.
