What New World Crops adds
The mod expands farming with bell peppers, eggplants, potatoes, tomatoes, yams and additional crop variants. Wild cabbage provides an alternative way to obtain cabbage seeds, while mature cabbage can also yield cauliflower seeds because cauliflower is treated as a domesticated relative.
Bell peppers and tomatoes use a special repeat-harvest system: right-clicking a fully ripe plant collects produce and lowers its growth stage until the plant can no longer be harvested. Potatoes do not produce seeds normally; cutting one up gives four planting pieces, and potatoes can also be baked like bread or dough.
Polycultures combine several plants in one field and consume the available nutrients to produce multiple crops. The Three Sisters pairing uses pumpkin, corn and a choice of green, black or kidney beans, while the Sun Sisters version adds sunflowers.
The added vegetables can be used in meals and pickled, with corn serving as both a grain and a vegetable. Support for Expanded Foods is limited, although bell peppers and some meals have compatibility support.
