New World Giant Tortoises is a Vintage Story mod by Hieronymus. New World Giant Tortoises adds nine tortoise species to different habitats, with collectible shells, breeding, eggs, and transportable hatchlings.

Why this mod is worth installing
A good choice for players who want more natural wildlife, historically inspired extinct species, and extra uses for hunting, breeding, and tortoise shells.
What New World Giant Tortoises adds
The mod introduces nine New World tortoises, including red-footed, yellow-footed, Chaco, Galápagos giant, Bahamian, Cuban giant, Mona, Gerson’s, and Marcano’s tortoises. Each species appears in environments suited to it, while several historically extinct Holocene species expand the wildlife roster without leaving the setting’s natural-history theme.
Adult tortoises provide shells that work as decorative items and as components for taxidermy. Depending on the species, hunting can also yield bushmeat, giving these slow-moving animals both collection value and practical survival uses.
Breeding requires a male and female of the same species in an enclosed area with a trough supplied with fruit or vegetables. Eggs and hatchlings can be collected alive with a bug net for relocation, but larger juveniles and adults must be moved by other means.
