No Offline Container Food Spoil is a Vintage Story mod by Draconikard. No Offline Container Food Spoil protects food stored in containers owned by offline players by pausing spoilage until the owner returns.
Why this mod is worth installing
This QoL tweak is useful for multiplayer servers where players store food in personal chests and may be away for long periods. It protects offline players without freezing spoilage permanently after someone else uses the container.
What No Offline Container Food Spoil adds
No Offline Container Food Spoil adds ownership tracking to container blocks. The game records who placed a container and who opened it most recently, then changes its food transition rate to zero while the owner is offline.
Food stored in an affected chest does not spoil simply because its owner left the server. This applies to container storage rather than items carried in a player inventory, so it does not provide general inventory preservation.
When another player opens the protected container, its contents resume normal spoilage while that player remains involved. The protection is also lifted when the owner returns and interacts with the chest, preventing the mechanic from being used as a permanent preservation method.
