Roleplay NPCs (1.22 Update!) is a Vintage Story mod by AlderonTyran. Roleplay NPCs adds editable NPCs with dialogue trees, routes, inventories, currencies, factions, and player-facing shops for Vintage Story.

Why this mod is worth installing
This mod is useful for server hosts and creative worldbuilders who want settlements populated by interactive, server-authored characters rather than static decoration.
What Roleplay NPCs (1.22 Update!) adds
Roleplay NPCs is a creative and administrative toolkit for building characters directly in the world. You can give an NPC custom dialogue with several responses, attach interaction logic, and define routes so a resident can live in one place, walk to another, or wait at a chosen point.
Dialogue trees support conditional choices controlled by flags, allowing conversations to react to earlier events or player decisions. Unavailable options are hidden, while the interface presents up to six choices at once, keeping longer conversations manageable.
The mod also supports currencies, factions, and NPC storefronts. Currency denominations must form an integer chain from the smallest coin upward, while NPC stock can come from items gathered during harvesting; undefined item prices use a default value of ten smallest coins.
NPCs can retain money and inventory, craft, follow more substantial waypoint and task logic, and trade through a dedicated interface. Together, these systems make it possible to build quest hubs, faction settlements, resource sellers, and other roleplay-focused locations.
How To Use
The setup screen is used to create dialogue trees for custom NPC conversations.

A branching conversation editor demonstrates how to build Skyrim-style dialogue for a character.

The configuration view shows currency chains and faction-related systems for NPC communities.

An NPC storefront can use defined currency denominations and offer goods gathered through the character’s activities.

Players interact with NPCs through natural conversation and trading rather than a purely decorative character model.

The update showcases persistent money, inventory, crafting, waypoint tasks, and a trade interface designed for a more dynamic economy.
