OptiTime is a Vintage Story mod by Zaldaryon. OptiTime is a client-side optimization mod for Vintage Story that targets stuttering, frame pacing, shaders, and mod-heavy handbook and recipe workloads.
Why this mod is worth installing
It is useful for players who experience uneven frame times or stuttering, especially in heavily modded worlds. It changes only the client, so it is aimed at improving your own game session rather than server simulation.
What OptiTime adds
OptiTime combines many small client-side changes instead of replacing the game's visual style. It can cull distant dynamic lights, entity separation checks, and animations, while scaling occlusion, shadow vegetation, particles, and chunk uploads according to view distance or current workload.
Several systems avoid unnecessary per-frame work: ambient and flying-sound positions update only after meaningful movement or volume changes, wind checks are throttled, and ticking-block particles reuse positions to reduce temporary allocations. A background FPS limiter also lowers the cap when the game window is unfocused.
The mod includes optional shader variants for blur, liquid droplets, and shadow alpha. Its recipe lookup reuses successful matches and narrows candidates, while cached handbook relationships help pages open faster after indexing. Multiplayer entity interpolation is also adjusted to make remote movement smoother.
Shader replacements can be disabled, and OptiTime avoids applying them when certain shader packs are detected. Frame pacing is available when VSync is off on Windows, while the GUI optimization keeps input patches optional.
