Player Corpse is a Vintage Story mod by DArkHekRoMaNT. Player Corpse replaces lost drops with a persistent corpse, marks the death site, and lets you recover recent inventories with a command.
Why this mod is worth installing
Useful for players who want death to remain dangerous without making recovery depend on finding scattered items before they vanish. It also suits servers that need controlled corpse ownership and backup recovery.
What Player Corpse adds
After death, a human skeleton appears at the death location with the player's saved inventory. The owner can collect it by holding the right mouse button, while creative players can access it as well; corpses normally remain in the world instead of despawning.
A death waypoint can be created automatically, with conflict handling for other waypoint systems. The optional corpse compass helps locate nearby bodies, and settings can make a corpse burnable, destructible, or open to everyone after a chosen in-game period.
Player Corpse also records recent deaths per player. The /returnthings command can restore items from the latest saved death when the required privilege is available, while runtime settings control saved inventory types, corpse creation, collection time, and retention.
