Why this mod is worth installing
Useful for players who want rarer or modded rock types to appear more fairly instead of being crowded out by earlier strata entries. It is especially relevant for worldgen-focused modpacks, though it is not a direct spawn-rate boost for any named rock.
What Rock Strata Variety adds
Vanilla strata generation can let a few rock types fill a vertical column before later entries get a chance to appear. Rock Strata Variety changes that allocation so each rock type queued for the area receives part of the available column, allowing more layers to coexist.
The result is a broader underground distribution, including better representation for uncommon rocks such as limestone and chalk and for custom rock types added by other worldgen mods. The mod does not reshape terrain, alter the heightmap, or deliberately increase the base probability of a particular rock group.
It is most suitable when creating a new world. Adding it to an existing save should mainly affect newly generated chunks; regenerated areas can show abrupt geological transitions, so backing up the world is sensible. It also replaces the rock-column generation method, making it unsuitable alongside mods that directly change the same method.
