Rubberbandaid

Rubberbandaid

Rubberbandaid is a Vintage Story mod by Chronolegionaire. Rubberbandaid raises Vintage Story’s player sync threshold to potentially reduce rubber banding on heavily modded servers.

Why this mod is worth installing

This utility is aimed at server owners and players who see repeated position or attribute corrections on heavily modded servers. It requires installation on both sides and works best when its threshold is tuned carefully.

What Rubberbandaid adds

Rubberbandaid changes the limit for simultaneous player “mark dirty” synchronization calls in a tick. When the vanilla threshold is exceeded, Vintage Story can force a full attribute resync, producing the familiar rubber-band correction; the mod raises that limit to reduce how often this happens.

A configuration value is created when the mod first starts. It defaults to 20, while the vanilla limit is 10, but lower values may be preferable for performance. Increase the number in small steps and stop at the lowest setting that removes the problem, since excessive values can add server load.

The mod is a small utility rather than a universal network fix. It may help in singleplayer, but its main purpose is multiplayer servers with substantial mod activity, and it must be present on both the server and connected clients.
