What Rustbound Magic adds
Rustbound Magic begins near temporal rifts. Nearby flowers can become unstable riftblooms; harvesting them with a knife may provide seeds used to begin the magical progression. From there, the in-game guide leads through discoveries and achievements rather than handing over every ability immediately.
Magic is supported by a network of specialized structures, including the Obelisk, Arclight Furnace, Spellforge, Oculus, Sanctum, Essence Nexus, and Gateway system. Players generate and manage neutral, light, dark, and elemental essence to operate this infrastructure and advance through the mod.
Spellcraft involves researching disciplines, finding ciphers, preparing grimoires, making staffs, and converting learned spells into scrolls. Rituals are performed in the world with chalk patterns and arranged components, making preparation and location part of the gameplay.
Later progression introduces linked gateways for distant or interdimensional travel and the ability to bind an Animus companion. Elemental damage types, creature resistances, weaknesses, healing conversions, and equipment-based magic attributes add tactical depth to combat and character development.
Getting started with unstable riftblooms
Flowers growing near a temporal rift can temporarily become unstable riftblooms. Harvesting one with a knife may yield a seed, giving you the first material for entering the magical progression.
