Seafarer

Seafarer

Seafarer is a Vintage Story mod by TechnoGoth. Seafarer expands Vintage Story with boats, ocean travel, coastal quests, tropical crops, food preservation, fermentation, and maritime cooking.

Why this mod is worth installing

This mod suits players who want a coastal survival loop beyond mining, with practical reasons to sail, preserve provisions, and develop a small port.

What Seafarer adds

Seafarer adds two vessels with different roles. The log barge is an early, broad platform that can carry storage and lighting upgrades, while the outrigger is a faster craft intended for more ambitious coastal journeys. A linen sail lets the barge use the wind, and a waterskin provides a simple four-litre liquid container without pottery.

The Tortuga port introduces a compact quest hub with five survivors and a rebuilding arc. Helping its residents changes the settlement, trader inventories, prices, dialogue, and available materials; some characters also open new maritime or treasure-related opportunities as their stories progress.

Long voyages are supported by a connected preservation system. Saltwater can be processed in a sunlit salt pan, meat can be salted, dried, and soaked back into usable ingredients, and outdoor drying also handles crops such as corn, tomatoes, chilies, and coconut. Amphorae and an onggi jar provide sealed liquid, storage, brining, and fermentation options.

The food systems add a strong tropical and coastal identity. Corn becomes masa and tortillas, coconuts yield water, meat, milk, and oil, sugar cane leads to sweets and rum, while shellfish, chilies, and tomatoes broaden cooking. A griddle supports flatbreads, seared foods, and filled burritos, and fermentation produces condiments such as garum, soy sauce, hot sauce, miso, kimchi, and preserved vegetables or meat.
