The Working Classes

The Working Classes

The Working Classes is a Vintage Story mod by Vivi_IX. The Working Classes adds profession-focused classes to Vintage Story, giving each role distinct crafting strengths, survival bonuses, and drawbacks.

Why this mod is worth installing

Choose it for a multiplayer server economy or a fresh single-player challenge where your class shapes what you can craft and how you survive.

What The Working Classes adds

The mod introduces a set of profession-based classes, including Blacksmith, Farmer, Lumberjack, Miner, Cook, Squire, Alchemist, Potter, Carpenter, and Healer. Each one improves a focused group of activities while adding weaknesses elsewhere, so choosing a class affects combat, gathering, crafting, and exploration.

Class abilities support cooperation instead of making every character self-sufficient. Blacksmiths repair armor and stretch coal supplies, farmers improve crop production, lumberjacks specialize in wood and tree propagation, miners gather resources underground, and cooks gain kitchen-focused tools and food advantages.

Other professions expand the crafting network: alchemists work with rare materials and transmutation, potters create decorated clay goods, carpenters produce refined wooden decorations, squires serve as adaptable fighters, and healers gather remedies. The handbook’s class guides explain the roles and secondary professions.

Blacksmith

The Blacksmith class focuses on forging, armor repair, melee combat, and efficient coal use, while reducing ranged effectiveness.

Blacksmith

Farmer

The Farmer improves crop harvesting, seed work, soil preparation, and bow use, but is weaker in melee combat and mining.

Farmer

Lumberjack

The Lumberjack specializes in logs, sticks, fruit-tree grafts, charcoal recovery, and wood-based decorations.

Lumberjack

Miner

The Miner is built for faster underground work, stronger resource gathering, and close combat.

Miner

Cook

The Cook creates better kitchen supplies, maintains tools, and gains advantages from food and melee-focused abilities.

Cook

Squire

The Squire combines speed, durability, melee and ranged combat, with useful foraging skills but poor mining ability.

Squire

Alchemist

The Alchemist gathers rare materials and uses a philosopher’s stone to support transmutation and advanced crafting.

Alchemist

Potter

The Potter excels at digging, melee strength, and shaping detailed clay creations, while being less effective at foraging and animal harvesting.

Potter

Carpenter

The Carpenter combines melee skill with efficient crafting, especially for decorated wooden pieces.

Carpenter

Healer

The Healer is durable, quick, and effective at foraging and preparing remedies for other players.

Alchemical Transmutation

This feature lets the Alchemist create a philosopher’s stone and pursue alchemical transmutation of ordinary metals.
