Universal Display Lib is a Vintage Story mod by Calminaion. Universal Display Lib is a library for free item placement, stacking, rotation, lighting, particles, animation and block swapping on custom surfaces.
Why this mod is worth installing
This library is intended for modders who want to add flexible displays or storage to their blocks. Players need it only when another mod lists Universal Display Lib as a dependency.
What Universal Display Lib adds
Universal Display Lib is a framework rather than a standalone content mod: by itself it adds no craftable windows, shelves or containers. Mod authors can mark surfaces in a shape file, after which the library handles item placement, stacking and orientation on those surfaces.
Items can be positioned on a half-voxel grid, giving much finer control than ordinary block placement. The surface geometry determines the default facing, while individual objects can be rotated to arbitrary angles and raised or lowered when a display needs careful adjustment.
A translucent placement preview shows the final position and turns red when the object does not fit. Players can also preview stacking on an existing item, hide either outline independently and adjust preview transparency.
The included .udedit editor lets modders tune an item's bounding box and display transform directly in the game. Changes appear immediately on a supported surface, and the resulting entry can be copied into a content patch.
Comes With An Editor
The .udedit tool adjusts an item's footprint and display transform directly on a supported surface. Changes are previewed live, and the resulting entry is prepared for use in a patch.
